Mistress of Evil takes place five years later than the first film. Aurora (Elle Fanning), Maleficent’s adopted daughter, is set to marry Prince Phillip (Harris Dickinson), which is seen as a way to unite the human and fairy worlds in peace. Unfortunately, there must be a dinner first where the in-laws will meet.
Queen Ingrith (Michelle Pfeiffer), Prince Phillip’s mother, is a bigoted woman who does not think highly of the fairy world. Tension is thick at dinner while the Queen continues to taunt Maleficent. She does this by serving dishes such as Squab, which would require Maleficent to eat one of her own, because they are both winged creatures.
Needless to say, the turmoil at the dinner results in Maleficent, creating an army of winged creatures to attack the Queen’s kingdom. War ensues and battles rage, as the kingdoms collide.
Mistress of Evil was entertaining from beginning to end. The visual graphics were amazing, and Jolie still makes an amazing Maleficent. If you were a fan of the first film, than you will likely enjoy the sequel. It’s filled with action that is reminiscent of the Harry Potter battle scenes on brooms and WWI dogfights. Families are sure to enjoy watching Mistress of Evil together.
