Summary
Evelyn is a documentary by film maker Orlando von Einsiedel. It records the tribute Einsiedel and his family have decided to pay to his deceased brother, Evelyn. 13 years earlier, his brother committed suicide, and the family hadn’t spoken to each other since. Their tribute included doing what their brother enjoyed the most, which was hiking.
Along with his brother and sister, Einsiedel hike through Evelyn’s favorite spots in the UK. As they begin their hike through the Scottish Highlands, the siblings share their feelings about the tragedy, beginning with where they were when they heard the tragic news. As they continue talking, we learn of how they each coped with their brother’s death. They also meet up with their mother, father, step-mother, and friends. Emotions grow as more family members and friends share their stories and what ultimately led to Evelyn’s decision to take his life, and how it impacted each one of them.

Bring the tissues if you decide to watch this documentary. Evelyn takes a look into the emotional topic of suicide, and its effects on those left behind. The feelings we see on the screen are raw and real. The film will likely bring out emotions for every viewer. It casts light on an important and tragic topic that must be discussed and addressed.
