Based in Los Angeles we follow Jack Radcliffe (David Oyelowo), an L.A. cop who has a close relationship with his niece, Ashley (Storm Reid). They continuously talk about her father Garrett, who continues to make wrong choices. Unfortunately, while Jack is on the phone with Ashley one day, her and her family are murdered.

This leaves Jack distraught especially since the investigation points towards a murder-suicide motive. Even so, Jack believes there is something more to it than what investigators believe. While contemplating this, he receives a mysterious call from Ashley. He can’t believe it’s her, but soon realizes this is a supernatural event, when she tells him the date of her call. She is calling from two weeks ago. This leads Jack to make every effort to find who murdered her before they can commit the grisly crime that has already happened in Jack’s reality.

The expectation for this movie was high considering those who brought us Get Out are now giving us Don’t Let Go. I love a movie that deals with supernatural events and makes us think, what would we do? At the same time, thrillers such as Don’t Let Go are great to watch because you don’t know exactly what will happen until the very end. I go to the movies because I want to watch something that will grab my attention early, keep it throughout, and end in a way I did not quite expect. Fortunately, for Don’t Let Go, it contains all of these elements. Besides this, David Oyelowo and Storm Reid are great at what they do, and have a chemistry that makes you believe they really are uncle and niece.

I enjoyed watching Don’t Let Go, and would give this movie 4 out of 5 stars. If you are like me, and enjoy thrillers that have you on the edge of your seat, then you will enjoy watching Don’t Let Go.
