F.R.I.E.N.D.S Sequel: Do We Really Need One?

2 min read

Unbelievable but true, it’s been 25 years now since our all-time favorite show first aired on TV. And while there’s enough to feel the nostalgia, what’s really been hitting hard some of the fans is the newly opened true-to-life replica of Central Perk cafe in Manchester by Primark. However, one thing the true fans somewhere still yearn for despite such attractions is the sequel of Friends.

Now, I’ll be very honest. Personally, I have been a very loyal fan of the show. I watched it for the first time during my 1st year of college and have watched it over more than 6 to 7 times over and over again since then. Needless to say, it has made my stomach hurt with laughter and filled my eyes with tears every single time. Neither does the storyline get old, nor does the jokes and little pun in the show. And as much as I have myself yearned for a sequel, I have been giving it a genuine thought lately. Do we really need a Friends sequel?

Well, we don’t (in my opinion at least). History is proof that the most legendary shows and movies are made only once and the sequels end up ruining the first part most of the times too. After having already accepted the kind of ending the show got, the turn the lives of the characters took throughout, and more, it would be way too impossible for me to see a sequel ruin the charm of the first part of the whole show. Not being negative, but let’s face it, such shows are one of a kind because they are one of a kind.

So, let’s just leave Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, and most importantly David Crane & Marta Kauffman alone and let them enjoy the days in their lives. Think otherwise? Feel a Friends sequel will do us more good than damage? Please tell me in the comments below. I’d love to hear from you!
